It is always recommended to include a price when you list your item. If someone has to email you for a price, they are less likely to buy. Without a price they may assume it is out of their price range or simply will not bother to contact you.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and that applies to your AstroAds listing too. Always try to include a good quality picture of the item you are selling, ensuring it is not too small and that it shows the item in a favourable light. Ads with a picture get more people looking at them, and it also reduces the number of questions people will have to ask you.
Ensure you provide enough detail in your listing description. Include the make and model of a telescope, for example. Also if you are selling a telescope don’t forget to include all the accessories you are including with it.
Be honest about an items condition. You do not want to disappoint a buyer by sending poor condition items. Word soon gets around and it will affect your ability to sell things in the future. People appreciate honesty. Make sure you accurately describe the item. Don’t exaggerate, or say things that are untrue.
Try to be able to post or arrange delivery for your item. Anything that makes it easier for the potential buyer to yes will make a sale more likely. If you include the term ‘buyer collects’ in your add you will exclude a large number of people from purchasing your item, and will also reduce the amount you will ultimately receive for it. If you are prepared to post the item include the shipping costs as people will often ask for this information.
Do research on the current market value of your item. Make sure you are competitive on price. For example, if there are lots of other 8" Meade’s on for sale at the moment you may want to consider why someone would buy yours rather than the others. You scope might be more attractive because it is in perfect condition, because it has more accessories included, or because it is lower in price.
Clearly state your payment options and remember different payment types take different times to ‘clear’. For example cheques can take over a week, while PayPal might be immediate.
Once you have received cleared payment, ensure you get the item delivered quickly and always within any timeframes you have agreed with your buyer.
Always answer questions and emails quickly.
